We've released v1.0.0 now that Elk is stable enough, moving past the alpha stage. We'll continue developing and improving Elk together with our new team member, @ayo elk

Does Elk only recognize Mastodon servers?

Logging in with neither fe.disroot.org or federation.network works (at least at this time).

They heavily rely to the Mastodon API - sometimes it works with Sharkey and Iceshrimp as well... I've tried with my Iceshrimp account today.
Login works but something was strange in the timeline

@nocci @fasnix @elk Ah, yeah we have to prioritize Mastodon APIs indeed due to maintenance capacity. We do get contributions to fix compatibility with other servers. 🙏

This is what I am hoping for.
Totally understand that the Mastodon API is kind of important.
Many other software like Sharkey or Iceshrimp etc already try to implement this in their code... (and many teams are not very happy about that 🫣 )
